Why bother?

I started blogging for a place to vent. I started tweeting because 'that's what you do' when you want to drive traffic to your blog and everyone else is doing it. But if it doesn't earn you money then why spend so much time online?

I've been on facebook for ages and not really used it that much. I used it more in Dubai to keep in touch with friends and see what they were up to. I got into a game on fb which I admit I'm addicted to.

Now I find that my laptop is on all day. I'm not on it all day but I can pop on and off whenever I want. I can find endless things to do to kill time on it. Blog, tweet, play fairyland, check facebook updates, email.

I'm finding more and more that I'm online instead of playing with my kids and I really can't see any benefit to it at all. When I started blogging I didn't really think ahead to what I wanted to achieve or where it would take me. Well, it hasn't taken me anywhere except away from my normal, real life.

I know I've posted before about how people find a balance and how they find the time while being a SAHM or even working mum but now I'm wondering how does blogging and tweeting benefit your actual real life?
